B.R.A.K.E.S. Background Information
On January 26, 2008, Doug Herbert’s two sons, Jon, 17, and James, 12, lost their lives in a tragic automobile accident that took place near their home in Cornelius, N.C. Herbert wanted to help prevent other parents from experiencing the same tragedy he had endured so he decided to found a non-profit organization that would promote safe driving. He asked Jon’s classmates to name the organization and they chose B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe). Contacts: Matt Reilly Stacy Ellis B.R.A.K.E.S. Executive Director B.R.A.K.E.S.
